Discerning movements in the Church
Bill Johnson.;-
The Church has largely replaced the gospel of the Kingdom with the gospel of salvation. This gospel is focused on getting people saved and going to heaven.
That message makes it easy to miss the fact that it is only part of the whole message that Jesus gave us. The gospel of the Kingdom is focused on the transformation of lives, cities and nations, bringing the reality of heaven to earth.
We must not confuse our destiny with our assignment. Heaven is my destiny, while bringing the Kingdom is my assignment. The focus of the Kingdom message is the rightful dominion of God over everything
.
Jim Miller;-
Unfortunately, large parts of the church have not only failed to transform our cities. We have also fallen short of the gospel of salvation.(getting people saved and on their way to heaven).
We, for a long time, have centered and still center on the gospel of " Church Membership".
(If the church membership numbers are not too bad...then that's O.K.
It is almost as if the folk running the churches do not believe or trust in "Supernatural Salvation".
Folk seem to think that Salvation depends on education into the details of denominational preferences
When the Salvation Army first entered Folkestone (long ago). Individual lives were transformed,
Families were made whole and Folkestone became a better place.
We need to be listening to what the Spirit is saying to the church today.
To be obedient to that we will have to come together in one Spirit, to the Glory of God
